This is important so let me respond. Please read my response carefully.
Nothing I say should lead you to believe that I think that guns are the answer to everything. Guns are, however, the answer to security. People are inherently and overwhelmingly good and therefore when guns are equally distributed among any given population they are used far more often for protection than to commit crimes. This can be backed up by facts. Violent crimes are more common per capita in countries and U.S. cities where guns are outlawed. "If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns" This can be logically extrapolated to the following: "If you outlaw [high-capacity, auto/semi-auto, etc.] guns, only outlaws will have [high-capacity, auto/semi-auto, etc.] guns." Guns unquestionably protect us from criminals, those with mental health issues and violent crimes. That is the short-term reason for the clearly stated second amendment to our constitution. There is however a bigger picture, and a more important reason for our right to bear arms to be un-infringed. Times are different, but history does have the tendency to repeat itself. "Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." That is the importance of knowing the history of “Gun Control.” Not only did many instances of "Gun Control" in history lead to genocide, the killing of innocent men, women and children, but more importantly, there are virtually no instances of "Gun Control" leading to anything but tyrannical control of the people. It is an easily recognizable pattern, a series of events that we must fervidly resist.
Yes, assault weapons are made for war, but we can only protect ourselves from war if we are armed as well. We need high capacity, auto/semi-auto weapons because the people who want to go to war with us have those weapons. The Native Americans had arrows and tomahawks, the millions killed in WWII had knives and clubs, but the tyrants they were fighting had better, more effective weapons, and so they lost their lives with futility.
I support our constitutional right to bear arms to protect myself, my family, my good friends like you and the people around me. The overwhelming majority of gun owners have weapons for that same reason. It is only "easy" for my loved ones to become victims if we are all disarmed or under armed.
The disarming of a population never comes in one fell swoop. It is always incremental. The more liberties we give up, the more we are disarmed, the harder it becomes to resist. The constitution has no "grey area." We have inalienable rights which are there to protect us.
Here is a recent case of the testing of the next step in the disarmament plan: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwP2Wvjc1po
People are being disarmed. "A few laws" is all it takes for the revocation of our constitutional rights. Here is recent proof that government pressure has unlawfully restricted our rights to purchase guns and ammunition which can be seen in the two following cases.
First, Bank of America restricted any gun or ammo purchases with their bank issued debit cards:

Next, Walmart under government pressure recently stopped gun and ammo purchases:

Regardless of the message being promoted by mainstream media, that is what's happening and it can only be stopped by complete refusal by the American people.
Keep an open mind, beware of conjecture and use logic to decipher the facts.
