PUTIN VISIT TO LIBYA EXPECTED BY END OF APRIL Date: 2008 April 8, 13:57 (Tuesday) S E C R E T SECTION 01 OF 02 TRIPOLI 000297 SIPDIS NOFORN SIPDIS DEPT FOR NEA/MAG AND EUR/RUS E.O. 12958: DECL: 4/8/2018 TAGS: PGOV, PREL, KNNP, ETTC, ENRG, PINR, ELTN, RS, LY SUBJECT: PUTIN VISIT TO LIBYA EXPECTED BY END OF APRIL TRIPOLI 00000297 001.2 OF 002
CLASSIFIED BY: Chris Stevens, CDA, Embassy Tripoli, Dept of State. REASON: 1.4 (b), (d) 1. (C) Summary. Although the Russian Embassy has received "nothing official" from Moscow, it expects Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit Libya by the end of April. Putin's projected travel to Libya is the "primary issue" in Libyan-Russian relations; in a recent meeting with Emboffs, the Russian DCM stressed that Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi has repeatedly made it clear he expects the visit to happen. During the visit, according to the Russian Embassy, Russia hopes to sign a general framework agreement on civilian nuclear cooperation, and military equipment sales will likely feature prominently in discussions. The Russian DCM also briefed Emboffs on a joint Russian-Libyan military cooperation council and ongoing Russian commercial ventures in the oil/gas and construction sectors. End summary.

I understand the above, part of the chess game. However, business deals are done at high levels and often above leaders. My belief is there is more conflict, and now an intermediate is on the playing field, whereas this becomes significant problem. As said before, playing all sides. I am most concerned with missing things, as result of the conflicts.

I'm a little late to the party, busy evening. But RH, missing things? The nukes and the chemical weapons? And JK...pictures on the forum....bravo! really brightens the joint up Seems like not too long after these middle eastern leaders have glowing pics with the PTB, they end up dead or on the hit list! What do we call the pics of Kerry & wife dining with Assad & wife....the last supper? And also, RH, I agree and understand that the business deals are done above the leaders. Would it be safe to say that they originate with a strategy in the think tanks and foundations (Rand) and then filter down through the likes of Carlyle Group to smaller companies, i.e. A.G. and then the plan is instituted to 'persuade' via financial or otherwise, the leader of the country to go along...or alternatively, plan B, to eliminate the leader

the information above was from AREVA's website. Here's another interesting tidbit: The French State-owned company has built close relationships with the United States Department of Energy (DOE) over the years. Former U.S. Senator and Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham is the Chairman of the Board of the U.S. branch of AREVA and uses his address book to promote the merits of this State-owned firm. Spencer Abraham was the head of the Republican Party in Michigan before becoming U.S. Senator for Michigan from 1995 to 2001. When he lost his re-election bid, President George W. Bush named him Energy Secretary. He served from January 2001 to February 2005. One year after he left, Abraham became Chairman of the Board of AREVA Inc. – the U.S. branch of AREVA Group, the French nuclear power giant. - See more at: www.dcbureau.org/20110321175/natural-resources-news-service/areva-in-america-the-french-connection.html#sthash.OPNd2qNY.dpuf

Extract from TRIPOLI 00000297. RUSSIAN COMPANIES ACTIVE IN OIL/GAS AND CONSTRUCTION 5. (SBU) Turning to commercial interests, Martinov noted that TRIPOLI 00000297 002.2 OF 002 oil/gas exploration company Tatneft was moving ahead with seismic exploration of blocks in the Ghadames and Sirte basins that it secured in the December 2006 round of the National Oil Corporation's Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement (EPSA) bid process. (Note: Tatneft won rights to blocks in area 82 and 98 in the Ghadames Basin, and area 69 in the Sirte Basin. As reported ref B, Gazprom won exploration and production rights in the December 2007 EPSA round for three blocks of area 64 in the Ghadames Basin. End note.) A private Russian company has been awarded a contract to renovate and provide new radar equipment to the Tobruk airport. A Russian company is also close to signing a contract to construct approximately 300km of a projected 2,000km coastal rail line that would span Libya from the Libyan-Tunisian border to the Libyan-Egyptian border.

Amazing links, JK. So, Putin's upset because they lost billions in arms sales to Libya. Sarkozy's accuser was involved in arms sales to Pakistan. And France probably has ulterior motives for backing the U.S. in the Syrian debacle. This international stuff is like trying to sort out a nest of snakes. Coils, slime and danger!

Well, these links just keep getting better! I laughed my way through the aangirfan link...then I get to the telegraph link and discover that Gidaffi's dead daughter got a visa 25 years after her death. And BP and JP just keep coming up in all this flotsam and jetsam! So for those who think BP and JP and others are not actually running the world (amok!), all I gotta say is...Christ isn't the only one who rose from the dead! Puts a whole new meaning to the Divine Right of Kings...apparently it includes the princesses also!

And just when I thought the links couldn't get any better....comes the one describing how the EXACT same sniper rifles shown to Gaddafi's forces by the British were the ones used in the shootings that supposedly turned the tide against Gaddafi. How much deeper does this freakin rabbit hole get? I mean, I know what's at the bottom...a nest of snakes!...but the trip down the rabbit hole is like LSD on steroids!
